"Can she feasibly fight in that outfit?"
"Who cares? She looks hot."
That's how I picture the conversation between comic book creators while discussing female superheroes. I picture similar conversations happening when the comic book characters are being developed for the screen, though filmmakers are a bit restrained by MPAA rating rules with how risqué the outfits can get.
Although, not all super-women have been designed to have unnaturally large breasts that nearly completely fall out of their tops while fighting for justice, most of them have. I'm all for empowerment and wearing what you want to make yourself feel powerful and beautiful, but the majority of these female heroes have been created by men and drawn for the male gaze.
But while some guys get their rocks off by looking at illustrations of Wonder Woman wearing little more than a fancy bathing suit and tied up by a bad guy, some smart showrunners and filmmakers have figured out that these heroes can't necessarily fight crime while wearing a just a thong. So let's look at some of the superheroes who got makeovers for TV and film.

P.S. I am aware that comic book characters go through costume changes and redesigns of looks, but these are all still outfits the superheroines wore—no matter how brief the time was.
